Emergency Food Program

Emergency Food Program

AYC has provided emergency food for hungry families since the early 2000's through partnerships with the LA Regional Food Bank and other community partners. In recent years, due to shortages at local food banks, we began doing quarterly food drives and developing partnerships with manufacturers and distributors to donate goods. In order to provide more adequate food security services to Asian Pacific Islander families, AYC partnered with the Asian Pacific Community Fund (APCF) to procure, process, and distribute foods that are culturally familiar to Asian and Pacific Islander families. Support from APCF was utilized to establish partnerships with various Asian food manufacturers, distributors, and retail vendors to increase donations of typical Asian foods and to work in partnership with local businesses to conduct food drives. In addition, AYC recruits and train volunteers to carry out the collection, packing, and distribution process.

In 2019, AYC renewed its partnership with the LA Regional Food Bank. We are excited to offer a more robust food inventory for families in need.

AYC's Food Distribution will take place by appointment ONLY. Starting June 18, 2020, appointments will be made between Tuesdays through Fridays from 8:00am to 4:00pm or on Saturdays from 8:30am to 1:00pm. To schedule your appointment, please call (626) 537-0954.

Our Emergency Food Program Needs your help!

AYC’s Emergency Food Program has served more than 1,000 families since mid-March! This program is small and under-funded. We know the need for food is critical right now, and we want to ramp this program up to serve everyone who needs it. To do that, we need to raise $4,000 per week to cover the cost of food and labor.

$30 will feed one family for a week.

$100 will feed four families for a week.

$500 will allow AYC to order 1,000 lbs of food from the LA Food Bank

$1,000 will feed almost 50 families for a week.

A little goes a long way. On behalf of our youth and families, thank you for all your support!
